CHENNAI (INDIA): The Madras High Court today made it clear that no government land should be registered without a no objection certificate from the revenue officials of the respective districts.

The oral observation was made by a division bench comprising Justice Huluvadi G Ramesh and Justice RMT Teekaa Raman while hearing a petition seeking removal of encroachments in the water bodies.

Earlier the bench had ordered district collectors of 13 districts to appear before it today and file their report on removal of encroachments.

All the 13 district collectors appeared before the bench and filed their reports.

The bench orally said that the Collectors should take steps to remove encroachments on the water bodies and the government lands. The bench further told the collectors to approach the court if they faced any trouble in implementing the orders of high court.

The bench said that it would go through the reports filed by the district collectors and posted the matter for further hearing to November 17.
