NEW DELHI: The South Delhi Municipal Corporation extended the ambit of an amnesty scheme to provide substantial relief in property tax to residents of all types of colonies, officials said.

The scheme, proposed late last year, earlier applied to only property-owners in unauthorised colonies.

Under the scheme, residents will become entitled to 100 per cent remission of the amount relating to interest and penalty, on making the payment of the amount due by March 31, the SDMC said in a statement.

The SDMC has “extended the benefit of 100 per cent waiver of interest and 100 per cent penalty under amnesty scheme to all type of properties, in all type of colonies, providing substantial relief to the residential property tax assesses,” it said.

The extended scheme will include the owners of all those properties, who have not submitted tax return from April 1, 2004, or not submitted return on a regular basis or the owners whose assessment has not been done from 2004 and ahead, or the owners whose assessment has not been done from 2004 and ahead or dues pending for the prior to 2004, Chairman of the SDMC Standing Committee Bhupender Gupta was quoted as saying in the statement.

Further, all properties where the matter is pending before the MTT (Municipal Tax Tribunal) or other courts will also get benefit under the scheme, he said.
