CHANDIGARH: Punjab Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa on Friday exhorted housing and real estate companies to invest in the state.

Punjab has emerged as the best state to do business in after the Amarinder Singh government came to power, the housing and urban development minister said while addressing a meet organised here by the Confederation of the Real Estate Developers of India (CREDAI).

He said an investment promotion bureau has been established to provide information regarding policies, laws and rules of the state to companies.

He said the bureau is responsible for according all the requisite clearances to industrialists within the fixed time frame.

“Not only this, the government is also contemplating a single window system for the industrialists so as to save them the rigours of moving from one place to another in order to get their work done,” he said.

He exhorted the companies to pay attention to small cities along with the bigger ones to curb the mushrooming of unrecognised colonies.

He also said the unrecognised colonies would be regularised and there would not be any haphazard construction thereon.

Listing the steps taken by the Punjab government to encourage investment, Bajwa said all the roads are being turned into express roads.

Uninterrupted power supply, land banking, land pooling and international airports are some of the other features which make Punjab the best destination for investment, he added.
